a quick post tonight, as I am soon off upstairs...
its been a lovely day, I met my friend in town, and we had a wander around the charity shops this morning... this was a slightly more fruitful meander today as I bought a beautiful mirror in a lovely carved wooden frame, and a hand-embroidered traycloth.. its so pretty, a mint green, with such neat stitching, so much work goes into these little works and it seems so sad to find them abandoned to charityshops.. this one came home with me for just a pound..
if you click and enlarge you will see how pretty this really is..

we also found two big (very big) bundles of new cotton fabrics in assorted patterns, loads of material in lovely lovely patterns...but mostly very christmassy. they were a little under £5 each bundle. We decided to buy both bundles, one each, we brought them home and split the lot in two, so that we both had half of each pattern from each bundle!.. here's my share.. when you think two fat quarters will cost around £5 now, this was a real bargain...
then we made tea, indulged in chocolate cakes, and settled down for an afternoon of natter and crafts. remember my fat quarters from last week? Ive started the project I planned, beginning with preparing the pieces ready for hand sewing..... i'm half way through this now..

back to work tomorrow, its gets dark so early now the clocks have changed, time really does fly by!

I love your purchases. That light green cloth is wonderful. I have some beautiful linens but no place to put them. I put them out in my sale and people just shuffled through them! I think I will put them in an Etsy shop and let people who really value such things buy them. But it may be a while before I get it going!
And that frame! I have a reproduction Art Nouveau wooden frame on an Arthur Hughes painting - "April Love" - also repro, of course.
Our time changes on Sunday. Oh, how I dread it. We were supposed to get 8-12 inches of snow tomorrow but now they say that the storm from Denver is tracking east of here. But we will get a few inches.
But now is the time for us - alone or with friends - to hunker down with books or crafts.
What lucky girls you are, I never seem to find fabric in our thrift shops and have to resort to cutting the tails off Husbands shirts ha ha altho I met a fabulous lady via Freecycle who not only gave me lots of fabric but has become a new friend with loads in common. Looking forward to seeing what you make, Kath x
They look like Michaelmas daisies on that cloth, don't they. And those Christmas materials are just beautiful - you've made me want to get out the sewing machine and get noodling away at something. Now what are those little pointy things going to be in that bottom pic? Curiouser and curiouser!

I love the tray cloth and the Christmas material. And that frame is beautiful!
Our time change is early Sunday morning, but I'll turn my clock back right before I go to bed. I always get so mixed up by the time changes; I wish they would just stick to one and not try to artifically regulate time.
Some lovely finds, Leanne.
The mirror is very nice, love the warm colour of the frame.
I could do with a fabric find like that!!!! Itching to get using my new sewing machine, he he!!!!
Hi Leanne,
wow that is a brilliant find! The cloth is so pretty and the mirror is lovely too. You obviously have some really good charity shops.
Hope everyone is well,
hugs from Meg and cats xxx
